Join Connie Martin in this fascinating history of the Underground Railroad in Illinois and how secret codes, woven into quilts, guided slaves on their journey to freedom. She will begin her presentation with the story of her own family, originally slaves captured in West Africa, and their stories of secrecy, codes, and fugitive escape routes that were discovered in a family Bible dating from 1865.
