Position: Youth Services Associate/Librarian (Summer Temporary)

The Youth Services Associate/Librarian is a dynamic and multifaceted position responsible for delivering exceptional library services to children, teens, and families. This role requires a blend of library management, customer service, programming, outreach, and collection development expertise. The Youth Services Associate/Librarian will work collaboratively with library staff, school personnel, and community organizations to support the library’s mission of fostering a love of reading and learning while meeting the diverse needs of youth patrons.

Compensation: Associate $17-$22; Librarian $25-$28, based on competencies, experience, and internal equity, and include IMRF, vacation, sick, and PTO earned per employee manual.

Position: Community Outreach Coordinator

Deadline: May 7, 2025

The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing community-centered services, partnerships, and events that address both the existing and emerging needs of the Bellwood community. This includes outreach to patrons of all ages, with a special focus on individuals experiencing challenges related to literacy, mental health, substance use, housing instability, and systemic barriers. This role focuses on building and maintaining relationships with community-based organizations to expand the library’s network of partners and to bridge gaps between the library and local services. Key areas of focus include community health, literacy, food access and nutrition education, violence prevention, victim services, housing access, and harm reduction. The Outreach Coordinator also serves as a resource for library staff, offering guidance and support when responding to patrons with identified social or support needs.

Compensation: $17-$25 (dependent on qualifications); Licensed Social Worker $25-$29

Position: Social Worker 

Deadline: May 7, 2025

The Social Worker is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing community-centered services that respond to both the existing and emerging needs of Bellwood Public Library patrons. This includes support for individuals and families experiencing challenges such as mental health conditions, substance use, housing instability, and systemic inequities.

While this role does not include long-term case management, the Social Worker actively builds relationships with patrons, supports staff in navigating complex interactions, and strengthens connections between the library and social service organizations. The Social Worker also advocates for inclusive practices and policy improvements in alignment with the library’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.

Compensation: $24-$30 dependent on qualifications
