PART-TIME CIRCULATION CLERK/ PAGE POSITION

Salary: $10.50 per Hour

19+ hours per week - Deadline Until Filled

Job Description: Bellwood Library is seeking a Circulation Clerk who is friendly and loves working with the public. Duties include checking materials in and out using our SirsiDynix WorkFlows system, registering and renewing library cards, answering phones, collecting fines and fees, re-shelving books, and a willingness to assist in covering other library departments, and other duties as assigned. We offer a dynamic, engaging team environment that values initiative.

Requirements: High school diploma or GED required. Candidates should have computer skills, a willingness to learn the library's circulation system, and customer service experience. A flexible schedule and some previous library work experience is preferred; or one year of work experience involving customer service.   Tuesday 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
  Wednesday 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
  Friday 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
  Every other Saturday    12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
 

 

YOUTH SERVICES LIBRARIAN

Full-time position providing library services to children birth to age 17 and their families.  We are seeking a candidate with a knowledge of and enthusiasm for children’s literature, familiarity with current technology, and ability to create and implement programs and perform outreach independently.

Professional duties include but are not limited to:

  • Collection development of Youth Services collection
  • Planning and implementing programs to families, children and teens
  • Reference and reader’s advisory for youth, parents and teachers
  • Assists patrons with catalog, public computers and electronic resources
  • Serves from Children’s or Teen Room service desk ask needed
  • Supervises Youth Services Department in the absence of the Department Manager
  • Performs person in charge duties.

Requirements:

  • MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited school
  • One year library experience working with youth
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be willing to work alone or as a team member
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees and community partners
  • Access to transportation

Hours

  • 37.5/week.
  • $33,000 - $40,000 DOQ
  • Full time position includes generous paid holidays, vacation, sick time personal time, insurance includes employee plus family members and IMRF retirement benefits

Must be available days, two evenings and some Saturdays (we are closed Sundays).

How to Reserve a Meeting Room:

  1. Read our Meeting Room Policy to learn what types of meetings can be held here.
  2. Print out our Meeting Room Application & Deposit Form
  3. Fill it out completely, including alternate dates in case your first choice is unavailable
  4. Turn in to the Bellwood Public Library Magazine Room

The Friends of Bellwood Library run a year-round book sale in the First Floor Lobby.  Shop our shelves frequently, since we're restocking all the time.  You'll find a wide selection of books at low prices at the sale shelves!
