Now Hiring: PERIODICALS ASSISTANT--Part Time
This part-time position serves as the primary staff member responsible for data entry of all new periodicals into SWAN using Sirsi-Dynix and back issue maintenance according to serials retention plan. Duties also include maintaining order in the Periodicals/Computer Room, assisting patrons with public access computers, and monitoring meeting rooms. Assists with cataloging other library materials when needed.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of current technical services practices for serials, previous data entry and customer service experience. The ability to prioritize tasks, perform detail work in a public environment and work independently are vital to this position. Excellent customer service skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers required.
23 hours/week: Tuesday 1-6, Wednesday 4-9, Thursday 9-1, Friday 1-6, Saturday 12-4
$12/hr. IMRF pension, paid holidays
- 2 years’ college or specialized computer training program.
- 2 years technology work experience - library technology preferred.
- Proficiency in the use of personal computing technologies, including desktops, laptops, tablets, current operating systems, Microsoft Office and internet applications.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service experience to patrons and staff.
- Willingness to work flexible schedule including days, evenings and Saturdays
