Where You'll Find A World of Knowledge!

| |
|
Reference Services
- Our
professional librarians are ready to help you find materials and information
on specific subjects. They will also help you do research on
companies and find business information, check on the availability of materials,
order materials from other libraries (interlibrary loan), and will reserve
materials for you. The Reference Desk takes questions in
person or by phone (708) 547-7393.
Bellwood Public Reference Librarians
have Masters Degrees from an accredited School of Library and Information
Science and are specialized in the collection, organization and retrieval of
information and use their knowledge, expertise, and experience to help the
public.
Night Owl Reference
Service
-
Calls made to the
library after closing are forwarded to the Night Owl Reference service, a
subscription service paid for by the Bellwood Public Library. A librarian
will be available to take your questions at the following times:
9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Monday through Friday
5:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday
Homework
questions, business questions, trivia--you can ask a Night Owl librarian.
Because Night Owl librarians are not on duty at the Bellwood Public Library,
they cannot tell whether a specific book is checked out, or place holds on
books. You can have them recommend books, and contact the Bellwood Library
during open hours to place holds or request interlibrary loan materials for you.

Computers -
The reference
area has 4 PCs and the
Magazine Room
has 3 PCs
which provide Internet access, word processing, spreadsheet work, presentations and desktop
publishing. Patrons who have a library card from their home library may
register to use the computers by signing a
computer
user's agreement and presenting their library card at the reference
desk. All printing is 10 cents per page. Note: Users should
know the basics of computer use, because the staff can provide only limited
instruction or assistance.
Online Databases & Websites by Subject -
Some of the following databases are online subscriptions for which the
Bellwood Public Library pays an annual subscription fee. While all the
databases are available to all patrons who come into the library, only
Bellwood Library cardholders, with a valid Bellwood Library number, have
access to them from home or work. |
